Cleaning the waters and removing the micro plastics

Cleaning microplastics from the Great Lakes is a complex challenge, requiring a multifaceted approach. While individuals can contribute to the effort, it’s essential to acknowledge that complete removal is difficult due to the widespread nature of microplastics.

Here are some ways YOU can help

Install and support the use of filtration devices in storm water drains and rivers leading to the Great Lakes to capture plastics before they reach the water.

Minimize your consumption of single-use plastics, such as plastic bags, bottles, and utensils. Always choose reusable alternatives to reduce overall plastic waste.

Support products with minimal or plastic free packaging. Choose eco-friendly alternatives for personal care items that don't contain microbeads or other plastic particles.

Dispose of waste responsibly by recycling plastics. Ensure that plastics are recycled correctly to prevent them from ending up in landfills or waste ways

Remember, the key is a collective effort. By adopting sustainable practices, influencing those around you, and supporting broader initiatives, you contribute to the protection of the Great Lakes and the environment from the threat of microplastics
